first trials are separated from second trial people. so they don't warn them about the Institution's intentions

"Yuppers..." I smirk over to the girl across the room, gesturing over to Emily. "Girly here has her antique books to read from..."
"Don't get cheeky with me," she says with a smile. "My father -"
"Oh boy, don't get me started on him..." I chuckle, looking back over at the girl. "Kim. What's your name?"

Aria
"It's Aria," I answered, feeling a little more confident. These people seemed pretty friendly. "Nice to meet you. Out of curiosity, what book is that?"

Emily looked up over her reading glasses, giving a small smile. "Shakespeare's Othello," she answers.

(PS - this being future, books are totally obselete to the public. Emily's from a rich family, so she can afford such 'antiques' as Kim phrases it. and counting as how the nation's economy is down the drain right now, there are very limited number of rich people in America then. So it's okay if Aria is rich enough to know about books and such, it'd just be very improbable to have two in the same room...)

Power: It takes a few seconds, but she can tell someone's past by staring at them...which is kind of weird...yeah... XD
Problem: She cuts herself.
Weakness: The smell of blood.
Personality: She's kind of bipolar...not very predictable. Most people peg her as insane, but as you get to know her, you figure out that not everything she says is completely random and crazy...

Well now, a curious one and a book worm... I look elsewhere, to another girl. "Hey, how about you? What's your name?"

Veronica: I glance up, surprised they'd even bother to talk to me. "Veronica," I mumble, then quickly look away.

Kim
And a shy one... what a crowd. "Kim," i introduce myself with a smile, hoping she's not totally shy. Some six and a half more hours of this will be totally killer if that's the case...

Veronica: I don't look up. "I haven't met a Kim in a long time," I murmur, thinking back to all the names I've encountered when I stared too long.

Kim
"Oh, well...I guess it's sort of an old-ish name." Though there really wasn't a ton of Kimberly's now a days. I guess my parents wanted to be all unique but traditional...

Veronica: I manage a smile. "No, no. It's not old at all. Just...common." Then I realize how that might seem rude and stop talking, my fingers knotting in the strings of my shoelaces.

Kim
Ahhh, shy again... "No, it's fine. It's old to me." I chuckle. "I guess that happens after eighteen years, huh?"

Veronica: I shrug, sniffing a little. Why did I always have to be sick? It was always a cold, or the sniffles, or...I think back to when I was little. I didn't do this then. But then again, I couldn't figure out history by looking at skeletons either. "Doesn't happen to me. But I don't like my name, anyway. It means nothing to me. When I have the histories of a million people, it's hard being one person."

Kim
I raise an eyebrow. A philosopher now or something? Jeez...she should meet Dan....Haven't heard from my brother in a while, now that i think about it... "I guess so," i say lightly anyway, with a laugh. "Never paid that much attention in history class though. I'm going for a physics major." And the only way I got into college was because of Dan being an alumni there.

Veronica: I almost glance up, my hands paused. "Physics?"

Kim
"Yup. Force equals mass times acceleration and all that jazz." I smile. "But don't let that confuse you. Some of the stuff my brother could come up with..." I shake my head astonished. "I don't even know what the name of his major means!"

Veronica: I purse my lips, busying myself with my bracelet so I don't look at her. She sounded...interesting. "What is it?"

Kim
My smile softens. "Physics...like...gravity, you know? Newton and the apple. It's a science dealing with motion, force, and energy."

Veronica: I raise an eyebrow. "I thought you didn't know what it meant?"

Kim
"My brother's major?" I put on my usual confused face when topics come around to that. "Something with genetics. Don't ask me what though. That's all /I/ understand. But he's really good with computers, so maybe it has something to do with that as well?" I shrug.

Veronica: I muttered something about genetic modifications and turned my head, so that I was looking at the corner of the room. "Does he not tell you?" I ask.

Kim
"He attempted a few times. It's really too complicated for me though..." I run a hand through my blonde hair. Maybe I'll call him after this. It's been a month or two at least...

Veronica: I laugh bitterly, shaking my head. "You don't know what complicated is." How could I explain to her that even though I might want to look at someone, I couldn't because then I wouldn't be able to trust them?

"Eh, i guess not. I suppose a few of these doctors have a bit more complicated degrees than his." I cross my legs and sit back against the chair, closing my eyes a moment.
