Jean
I didn't understand. Confused, I tense slightly, a hand to my chest. I mumble something, trying to relax again. "Hurts..." I wasn't safe. Wasn't in control...

"You're a beautiful person," Jason murmered when he felt her tense, continuing to rub her back. "Beauty isn't in the looks," he said, his voice holding that sadness that always seemed to be ever present. "I learned that the hard way."

Jean
I nod slightly. Wasn't going to burn but it felt damn close. "You're...beautiful too..." I peak out at him, my crimson eyes sincere.

Jason blinked and looked down at her. "You think so?" He asked with a disbelieving smirk. He didn't think there was any way that he could be beautiful inside or out. He'd done to many bad things to scar himself.

Jean
I try for a smile, nod. "You're nice. You don't hurt. You accept. You protect..." But I've heard humans aren't really like this. Not all of them anyway, like Wizard. It was nice to be with one though. beautiful...

Jason gave a small smile as he watched her, his eyes still holding a bit of sadness. "I've hurt people, and I'm not always nice..and I never use to accept people.." he let his voice trail off. "I'm not as perfect as you make me sound."

Jean
"No one is /perfect/. Even when Wizard could manipulate my appearance, he never got my name and he could never change my eyes. He hated my eyes...." A light smile appears easily, even past my fire.

Jason looked down at her, his eyes falling on hers. "I think your eyes are perfect," he murmered after a moment. He didn't understand how she could be so accepting of him. It was so...odd. But at least someone wasn't scared of him. At least he could talk to someone as he spent the rest of his life as scared outside as he was inside.

"I've been told that they aren't normal," i murmur, taking a breath to relax more. My original eyes, crimson, burning red crimson. "But they're the only thing normal for me..."

Jason smirked slightly when she used the term "normal." He rubbed her back gently and laid his head on top of hers. "Who's to say what's normal and what's not?" He murmered, still trying to get use to holding someone after so many months of isolation. It was odd, but felt good. He wondered what would happen if the wizard did come. Would he die? Would he be able to protect Jean?

Jean
My eyes close again, my stomach swirling. He's cold. It's sort of funny... I nuzzle his neck lightly, bury my face under his chin. "Then whose to say what's scary or not?"

Jason's breath hitched ever so slightly, but he grinned and tightened his arms around her a bit more. "I wish people were as accepting as you are," he murmered and, without thinking, kissed the top of her head. It was so natural that he barely even noticed that he had done it. Everything seemed natural when he was holding Jean.

Jean
I freeze ever so slightly. I knew what it was. Of course I knew what it was because of the knowledge Wizard put in me. And with what he put into my head, he tried to make me believe I was actually human. So I wouldn't have a reason for fleeing. But...I knew I wasn't...and yet... "Jason...I'm a bird, remember?" I say, an attempted teasing tone but my voice is more confused.

Jason chuckled and smiled, "and I'm a monster. Don't worry, I won't forget." He sighed and glanced around. "So, what's your plan for turning back into a bird?"

Jean
"I...don't know any way how to," I mumble. Only the Wizard seemed to have the power... but he wouldn't give me up. Never... "And....and you? Your original form?"

Jason sighed, his face falling slightly. "I've sort of...given up," he murmered. He looked around and sighed, clearing his throat. "I'm suppose to find someone who can love me. But that's never going to happen, so...ya. I'm just trying to get use to the idea of being like this for the rest of my life."

Jean
I shake my head. "No, don't say such things..." What was it before... A hug? I sit up carefully, putting my arms loosely around his neck. "There's always someone... just wait. You're helping me, I'll help you too. We'll find her..."

Jason watched her and couldn't help the little smile that pulled at his lips. "Ok," he said with a small nod, though he didn't think it would ever happen. Both of them were to afraid to even leave the apartment. "So, what do you propose we do first in finding a way to get you back to normal?"

Jean
"Having someone willing to let a phoenix free," I say quietly, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "...Maybe, where we hide...there are witches that see us as divine... They may be able to give some...advice... if not for me than maybe for you..."

Jason watched her and took a deep breath, not liking the sound of witches. He gave a small nod and swallowed hard. "Alright, where um, where do we find these witches?" he asked, hoping it wasn't to far away.

Jean
I purse my lips. It was going to be annoying getting there, that was for sure. "...South... You call it... Amazonas, I think..." Which was also another of the annoyances getting captured up here...

"Whoa," Jason said as he ran a hand through his hair. The Amazons? He took a deep breath and glanced down at her. "Ok...ya we can get there," he nodded. "I have enough to get us there." He had been saving up for the trip to mexico, but this was better.

Jean
"They're...an interesting bunch of witches... But nice. They don't much like trespassers, because they take an oath to protect us. The natives don't want outsiders to find us. They'll allow us access if we show what I am though," I say. Back in the jungles, that would be nice... but... "Are you sure it's not a bother? I do have the concept of money now, though I don't really understand it..."

Jason watched her and gave a small smile. "I'm sure, it's not like I'm doing anything anyway. I have the money, I promise. I was saving up to take a friend of mine to Mexico, but once I...looked like this they wanted nothing to do with me. It's better used on you than her." He took a deep breath and streached once more before relaxing again and looking back at her. "When would you like to leave?"

Friend...? But 'her'?
The old girlfriend, whose clothes are still in the dresser?
"I see," I whisper. "Um....whenever you'd like to..." I didn't want to be pushy about it. I was still perfectly content right here on the sofa.
